After spending the last couple of days kangarooing down the dual carriageway on my way to work, when this book landed on my desk it couldn't have come at a better time.
In a foreword, author Danielle McCormick explains wht this book is essential stating: "The common belief is that when it comes to cars, women should just leave it to the men. But why should that be?""
"The notion of "leaving it to the men" also assumes every woman who has a car also has a reliable man in her life..."
Hear hear! And a bit of car care knowledge will get you a long way, not just on the maintanence side but with the men too.
The book has eight sections: How your car works, Getting down with the lingo, Car maintenance, Car doctor, Cleaning your car, When things go wrong, Buying a car, Selling a car and Your car and the environment.
Since I've never seen under my car's bonnet i thought this might be a good place to start and the book helped me identify the different sections that I should be paying attention to and what I needed to put into them. There really are things that all drivers should know and checks that they should regularly be carrying out, I didn't have a clue about them, but now I can honestly say I do, and I understand why they need doing which helps.
Following my bouncy journeys I turned to the Car Doctor section in the hope of a solution. A straightforward question and answer section, I was able to locate my problem and told what action needed taking. Most of the answers send drivers to a mechanic but at least you have a better idea what is wrong and can give proper technical terms to the mechanic!
Overall the book really is a useful guide and most fellas could probably learn a thing or two from it. Essential and informative reading for female drivers, this one should definately be in your glove compartment and that fact that it's pink just makes it all the more appealing!
