An increased number of motorists will lose their licence while driving to holiday hotspots, theme parks and airports during the month of April, according to new research.

Mobile speed traps and fixed cameras are sited on routes to holiday destinations where drivers are less familiar with the roads or the speed limits. Almost one million drivers are now three points away from a driving ban and the month of April is likely to be the nail in the coffin for many of these motorists on the brink.

Motorists hear the words ‘Beware, watch your speed’ as they approach any type of speed camera, including mobile camera sites.

Special attention has been given to include mobile speed camera sites on roads to holiday destinations. A team of ex-traffic police were employed to confirm locations for speed cameras and some mobile sites are situated where it is almost impossible for a motorist exceeding a limit to see the camera in time and avoid a ticket.

What a miserable devious nation we are turning into. I fully support speed cameras; they save lives and have proven this fact over and over again. But why deliberately go out to almost ‘con’ holidaymakers, British ones at that, by putting cameras in unsuspecting places just to get the revenue. If they could just stick to the blackpots, I am sure motorist’s opinion of speed cameras would dramatically increase.
