Over five and a half million motorists .. one in five .. say they lose their car at least once a fortnight with each driver spending an average of 5 hours and 13 minutes a year searching for it.
One in four drivers say they have actually thought of reporting their car stolen after spending more than hour looking only to realise that their memory had malfunctioned and their motor was in the car park all along.
On top of that a staggering 12 million shopping hours are expected to be spent looking for lost cars this. Oh help! Research of over 1,200 motorists shows that female car drivers are much more likely to suffer from 'car parking amnesia' as 24 % lose their car once a month compared to 15% but I think the men might just possible be suffering from amnesia as they fail to admit to losing thier cars!
In response to the problem Chevrolet has produced the K.I.T.T.Y (Key Innovation That Talks to You) .. a handy handbag-sized remote-controlled talking alert, which enables the car to shout a personalised message to its forgetful owner making it easier to locate their misplaced vehicle.
The Chevrolet K.I.T.T.Y has a range of 183 meters and will be trialled in a number of cars over the Christmas shopping period to help put an end to driversâ wayward car park wanderings.
You can personalise your message to KITTY who will respond with the likes of âover here you blind personâ and as you get nearer it will respond again â your getting closerâ until you eventually find your car.
Can you imagine what other sort of messages you can leave!
The mind boggles
