Proof at last. The reason why young men are so prone to accidents and convictions on the roads is not just down to their lack of driving ability as previously thought but their genes.
Men may have evolved over the centuries but their brain is still in the murky past of their ancestors, the caveman. So despite living in the 21st century their brains are in fact still in the âstone ageâ, which was fine back then.
To be successful hunters men had to enjoy speed, danger, risk taking and showing off. Sadly, because their brains have not evolved, they still have these carnivore desires and implement then behind the wheel of a car.
This explains why men, and young men in particular, tend to be more aggressive than women and they express aggression in a direct, rather than indirect, manner. The result has a very significant impact on driving â encouraging more competitive and hostile behaviour with consequent higher probabilities of having an accident.
It gets worse. Levels of rule-breaking behaviour are significantly higher in men than in women and this manifests itself in a greater frequency of violating traffic regulations, including speed limits, traffic controls, drink driving, etc. You defiant beasts.
Males habitually require more space so when that gets tampered with, guess what, they react immediately and aggressively by either tail gaiting or recklessly overtaking. When will they ever grow up?
