Lady Gaga

A history of high speed crashes, all night partying and impractical footwear has meant celebrities don’t have the best reputation behind the wheel. But which celebrity would British drivers feel least safe with as their driver for the day?

According to a survey Lady Gaga is the celebrity Britain’s drivers would least like to see in the driving seat.

Footballer Ashley Cole took second place in the list, possibly due to the fact he was once famously caught doing 104mph in a 50mph zone in his black Lamborghini. Reality TV personalities Mark Wright, from The Only Way Is Essex, and Ollie Locke, from Made in Chelsea, take third and fourth position with Cheryl Cole, Britain's favourite Geordie, rounding off the top 5 to show she can compete with ex-husband Ashley Cole.

According to the survey respondents, the main cause for concern about the celebrities’ driving skills was lack of concentration and arrogance - two characteristics that not only lead to recklessness on the roads, but can also lead to careless actions in other areas of life, including online.

Richard Clooke, Worldwide Review Program Manager at PC Tools explains, "Poor concentration and arrogance are among the top reasons Britons fall victim to cybercrime.

"Whether accidentally clicking a dubious internet link or not double-checking a spam message, a lack of concentration leaves you more susceptible to online criminals.

Clooke continued: "Whilst many would never admit to arrogance, people often believe they won’t fall prey to cybercriminals.

"However the Office of Cyber Security & Information Assurance recently found that cybercrime costs the UK economy £27bn** per year, so clearly there’s some cause for concern."

Whether in the car or surfing the net we all want to feel safe, and it’s interesting to discover that a lack of concentration and arrogance is perceived as a characteristic of unsafe drivers.

According to the PC Tools survey, newly-wed Prince William and Kate Middleton, Sir Trevor McDonald, Jenson Button and David Cameron are among the famous Brits least likely to cause respondents to have sweaty palms.

The research of over 1,000 UK drivers was conducted in July 2011 to mark PC Tools’ sponsorship of TDS Racing and partnership with the World Series by Renault. The UK race weekend takes place at Silverstone Grand Prix circuit this weekend, 20th -21st August.

The top 5 were:

1. Lady Gaga
2. Ashley Cole, Footballer
3. Mark Wright, TOWIE
4. Oliver Locke, Made in Chelsea
5. Cheryl Cole, Britain’s Favourite Geordie lass
