You may have read is utter disbelief how Shafkat Munir told the police he was dead rather than risking losing his licence after being caught for speeding three times within weeks.
He posed as a friend to inform the police he had in fact been dead at the time and even had the audacity to produce a bogus death certificate. Posing as Rashid Hussain he went to say how upset his family were by the accusation of speeding.
But the police smelt a rat, which is quite refreshing to hear these days, and became suspicious when they phoned this âfriendâ who then admitted he was indeed, the newly risen Shafkat Munir.
Miracles really do happen.
Munir was worried he would lose his job if he lost his licence as he could not take his wife for her IVF treatment amongst other things. Even his lawyer called his efforts to avoid a ban as âpatheticâ!
And pathetic sums up this case as if Munir could in fact add up, he would have realised that each speeding fine is three points, so three accounts of speeding in my calculation and I have checked this with my eight year old daughter, comes to 9. The limit for a ban is in fact 12.
So as Munir starts his 12-month prison sentence I do hope these is an abacus he could use to pass the time away.
