Should Have Guessed

Company executives are the most dangerous drivers in the UK according to a new survey. Now why does this not surprise me?

mile-for-mile, company cars have crash rates 30-50% higher than private drivers

The research by Vansunited.co.uk, which logged the opinions of 1,000 drivers online and in cities across the UK, has found execs are the most distracted and potentially dangerous drivers on the road.

The group were three times more likely to use their mobile phone, eat or drink whilst at the wheel than other drivers, with 82% also admitting to driving when tired. They really are a defiant bunch of, dare I say, motorists?

In the UK, an estimated 10% of all collisions are related to driver fatigue and, mile-for-mile, company cars have crash rates 30-50% higher than private drivers. I know ‘time is money’ in the sales world, but taking a break really should be enforced for these motorists.

Additionally, perhaps most shocking, over one in five (21.3%) of executives admitted to almost causing accidents /having a minor knock because they were checking their appearance in the visor on the way to a meeting. Talk about being vain!

Other motorists did not go unscathed in the review however. Parents on a school run topped the poll for most prone to regular distraction when driving, with one in three (31%) citing child passengers as the worst 21st century driving distraction.

Well, the sooner all councils provide school buses the better
