An angry motorist has cut his car in half after the DVLA impounded it on his driveway.
Ian Taylor had parked his Ford Fiesta - which had been legally registered as off road - on his driveway, when inspectors noticed his rear bumper was protruding onto the road and impounded the vehicle with a £200 fine.
But instead of paying the fine to release his car, Mr Taylor took out a power saw and cut his car in half - telling officers they could take the offending half with them.
Inspectors dialled 999 immediately, and five police cars carrying ten officers were called to the scene, along with a six-man fire crew.
When the police arrived, they took no action and the clampers released the car.
Mr Taylor, of Gloucestershire, said his Ford Fiesta - which he values at around £50 - was on its way to the scrapyard anyway.
He said: "I had to make a point. The vehicle was totally legal where it was.
"These people are petty and wonât listen to you. It was a drastic step but I stand by my decision."
Mr Taylor said cutting the car in half behind the passenger seats took just ten minutes.
A spokesperson for clamping firm NCP Services - which operated on behalf of the DVLA - told today's Sun newspaper Mr Taylorâs actions where "dangerous and highly irresponsible."
