Join celebrity parents Fern Britton, Angela Griffin and Andrea Catherwood and get creative with the kids to teach the importance of road safety in an entertaining way. The famous mumâs are among high profile parents who have pledged to spend time with their children and create their own comic book strips featuring road safety hero, Hector, the newest road safety character from Texaco.
Hector, the new cool and quirky face of road safety, has been brought to life in animations by triple Oscar winners, Aardman Productions, to teach children aged six to ten, five critical road safety rules. Delivered in a series of short films at www.hectorshome.com, Hector now also offers the chance for children to create their own animations online and practice the road safety lessons learnt. The online world also has a number of wickedly exciting games to play which also drive home the important morals of each story - from practising how to cross the road safely through to being seen at night.
Join celebrities and have lots of fun thinking up hair raising road safety stories you and your child can create with the easy to use step by step animation. Simply choose from a range of backgrounds from fairground to spooky graveyard (as featured in the films) and select characters and objects to bring your story to life from whoppee cushion or glow candy. Not only will you both have bags of fun getting to know Hector and his colourful cast of animal friends, your child will also be given the opportunity to demonstrate creative skills through teaming animation with their own narrative, while learning the importance of road safety.
Hector and his online world has been created by Texaco, the independent chain of petrol stations, to help play a part in reducing the amount of accidents and injuries on the roads. In 2006, a total of 3,294 children were killed or seriously injured in road accidents, a figure that the Government wants to reduce by 50%.* Through teaming with animation experts, Aardman Productions, Texaco wants to encourage children to be more aware of the dangers of the roads by entertaining them with the series of short films called âThe Peculiar Adventures of Hectorâ. The series of films is available free of charge online at www.hectorshome.com
