The Pound Hits Record Euro Low
The British pound has dropped to a historic low against the euro as markets expect the Bank of England to further drop its interest rates.
Economists and business leaders have called for an aggressive cut to 2% from 3% to prevent the downturn deepening.
On that news the pound declined to 1.1526 euros, the lowest level since the creation of the eurozone currency in 1999.
The UK currency also fell against the dollar to $1.4471, the lowest level in almost seven years.
Both the Bank of England and the European Central Bank are expected to cut interest rates later on Thursday.
