A staggering 87% of British women claim they are consumed with guilt on a daily basis, about things they have eaten or drunk, according to new research by Slim Wine.
Researchers surveyed British females of all ages around their eating and drinking habits and revealed, despite 66% saying food and drink brings them the most pleasure in life, it also brings the most pain – with the average female feeling wracked with guilt twice a day about something they have consumed.
To put this into perspective, over an adult lifetime, a woman will experience over 45,000 waves of calorie related guilt, driven by food and drink.
To encourage women to feel less guilt about food and drink, and inspire them to put their worries aside, Slim Wine has partnered with Ashley James, who has been tackling the worries and stresses of women on her popular Instagram account.
Ashley is one third of the brand new Slim Wine Zero Squad, a group of famous females who have come together to promote positive ‘zero guilt’ mind-sets amongst women. We spoke to Ashley about the campaign and why she’s no longer feeling guilty…
‘I am so happy to be working on this empowering campaign with Slim Wine; I’m a massive lover of wine and it’s amazing to work with a brand that really understands the pressures and guilt women experience.
I’ve always loved food and alcohol; whether I’m with friends, family or even by myself, and it’s something I don’t want to beat myself up about. Life is too short not to enjoy the things you love! I made a decision two years ago to not edit any images on my social media because of the pressure it creates for women. I am happy to show the real me. It’s very easy to fall into a trap of comparing and self-loathing. I really do want to promote positive mind and body messages; if you want that glass of wine, drink it! If you want that piece of pizza, eat it! It’s all about moderation and balance, but most of all, not feeling guilty.
Being balanced helps to reduce worries, and with products like Slim Wine, a zero carb and zero sugar range of premium wines, you can enjoy a great tasting drink without being wracked with guilt afterwards.
It upsets me that just one in ten women do not feel guilt after eating or drinking, so it’s mine and the Zero Squads mission to make the other nine in ten feel great about themselves.
There are many times in life when you compromise on things you love, but you deserve better. Never compromise on anything – on food, your happiness, life decisions. It’s so important to enjoy everything you do, and feeling zero guilt plays a big part in that.’
