RSPCA Wildlife Works Dress

An animal friendly dress for the RSPCA hit the London Fashion Week catwalk last week.

The dress was part of the Wildlife Works Autumn/Winter 2008/9 collection shown at the Royal Academy in Piccadilly.

£40 from the sale of every dress will help fund the RSPCA’s campaigns such as ‘fur free’ and ‘welfare-friendly chicken’, whilst 3% of total sales will go towards the funding of the Wildlife Works eco factory and wildlife sanctuary in Rukinga, Kenya.

Andrew Smith, the chief executive of Wildlife Works UK says, “Consumer powered conservation is at the core of our company philosophy, and this collaboration with the RSPCA is a great opportunity for us to harness our creativity to design a dress that puts animal welfare at the top of the fashion industry agenda.”

David Bowles, Head of external affairs for the RSPCA says, ‘We hope that this will strike a chord amongst all those who care about animal welfare, and inspire other fashion designers and retailers to rise to the challenge and place animal welfare at the heart of their creations.”

The dress, which is ethically made from Georgette silk and chiffon, will be on sale from mid July for £350. It will be available to buy from www.wildlifeworks.com and further stockists – including major multiples and select boutiques - will be announced as soon as agreements are finalised.

Wildlife Works were winners of the fashion retailer category at the RSPCA Good Business Awards 2007 for their fresh and exciting cruelty-free designs and inspiring projects that include educating children about wildlife, conserving species at its own wildlife sanctuary in Kenya and employing members of the community in an eco-factory there.
