Puffa Jacket

Puffa Jacket

Puffa jackets were a trend we'll never forget and in 1991 the Michelen Man look was the hottest on the streets.

It was the genuine gangster who first started the fad for over-padded coats when they used the extra volume to hide anything they wanted to smuggle into a club.

Soon men who were a bit on the skinny side were catching on to the fact that puffa jackets could give the impression of being a hunky muscle man- forgetting that their chicken legs were still poking out of the bottom!

By the middle of 1991 the puffa jacket had moved from the streets to the catwalk and soon every fashion lover wanted the inflated look.

From short cropped versions to full length catepillar-like coats the puffa jacket exploded onto the high street - and we all thought we looked so cool.

The puffa jacket has threatened to make a return a few times over the past few years with some similar styles even making it onto the high street but thankfully they have been nowhere near as big as the horrendous 1991 offerings.
