Party Looks For This Season

Still looking for that perfect party dress? Panicking about what to wear over the Christmas period? Well we've found the perfect outfit for you, no matter what body shape you are.

FemaleFirst is on a mission to get everybody looking fantastic this Christmas, working the key winter trends but adapting them to your shape. Today we'll be dressing all the plus size ladies out there...

The first thing to look at when you dress your figure this Christmas, is to avoid pleats as these can make you look wider, instead go for plain patterns and styles.

Sleeves do tend to flatter upper arms, but if you don't want to wear a long top then invest in a shrug. They're great for covering the upper arms, but they're also pretty stylish too as they come in different styles and patterns. Our top tip is the sequined or shimmer shrugs that are on the high-street at the moment.

Avoid horizontal lines and belts as these again can draw attention to some problem areas, instead go for the same colour top and bottom to extenuate height.

That said don't fall into the trap of wearing black all over, feel free to inject some colour into your look; red especially looks great paired with black.

Here's our favourite looks for the plus sized ladies out there...

Embrace the Orient this Christmas with this Chinese inspired outfit. We love this satin oriental top, which is flattering to most figures and we've paired it with some smart black military trousers. To complete the look we've added an oriental clutch, some black sandals and a gorgeous pair of black diamond earrings.
