Kylie Minogue and Kanye West set the Paris fashion world alight yesterday, when they were pictured front row at John Paul Gaultier's show.
Kylie has long been a fan of Gauliter and his work, charging him with the task of designing all of her costumes for last year's KylieX2008 tour and is also a close personal friend of the designer.
She sat front row with her stylist and smiled encouragingly as Gaultier's models strutted down the catwalk, in a range of luxurious and embellished designs.
With Kylie becoming the new A-list spot, Chanel must be a tad annoyed, seeing as they had that honour only yesterday, for bagging Keira Knightley for their front row.
Dita Von Teese and Mischa Barton were also spotted floating around Paris once again, with Von Teese pictured eyeing up the accessories at Galliano's show.
Possibly one of the most anticipated collections to make an appearance yesterday was Valentino, whose new creative directors, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli were about to make their fashionable debut.
They had a tough task ahead considering that their predecessor, Alessandra Facchinetti, lasted just two seasons and having Valentino Garavani himself, sat centre row can't of been a picnic either.
So what was the result? Well, the collection appears to have divided critics, with some suggesting it wasn't creatively different from anything Valentino had done before, and others saying it just lacked innovation.
They certainly paid homage to the original heritage of Valentino, presenting some of the collection in the signature Valentino red. There was also plenty of collared suits and swing hem coats, which the label is often associated with.
Some have argued that it wasn't innovative enough, but we say give them time. This is their first collection, and now they should be able to build on all the positives and negatives, in time to come back fighting next season.
In the meantime they have to gear up for next month and their ready-to-wear collection and if that too proves a let down, they may well head the same was as Facchinetti did.
