Lace has been a big hit this autumn on the catwalk, celebrity and high-street alike, so we thought it was high time that we showed you how lace can work in your wardrobe.
It may have been over-exaggerated on the catwalk as the 'Grown-up Goth' look, but lace doesn't have to be all dark and depressing, or daunting come to that, it can be as understated as you like.
In fact, it will look great incorporated into your every day working life- so go lace crazy, or keep it to a minimum, there are no rules to working this trend.
Here is our top picks for wearing lace to work:
Dress:
This emerald green colour is a hot for autumn and Topshop have even gone one step further by incorporating lace into the design. This is a really cute dress that will brighten up your day at work and will work for most figures too. We've accessorised this dress with black boots and a waist-clinching belt.

Shirt:
A black shirt is standard attire for the office, so why not jazz yours up a bit and get this little beauty from Topshop. The only lace detail is at the top, so you can still work this look without going overboard.
The key to not overdoing this trend is to take one key piece, and work around that, so if your shirt has got the lace detail, then keep the rest of your outfit simple. We've teamed it with a plain knee-length skirt from Warehouse and some oh-so-cute lace up patent ankle boots from Peacocks.
Lace shirt, Topshop, £40, Black skirt, Warehouse, £45, Patent ankle boots, Peacocks, £15
Tights:
Tights are a big part of updating your wardrobe for autumn as they can totally change your look. This is perhaps the most difficult lace trend to pull off, but again simplicity speaks volumes when putting your outfit together.
We've chosen a simple, flattering black dress (not dissimilar to the Roland Mouret dress that Victoria Beckham first wore last year) and some cut out shoes from e-tailer boohoo.com.
Lace tights, asos.com, £6, Dress, Peacocks, £18, Cut-out shoes, boohoo.com, £15
Skirt:
Lace has made a rare appearance in skirts this season, unless you count the ra-ra skirts, which are extremely bum skimming and not very suitable for work.
So we're delighted to present this pencil skirt, which is elegant, fun, and perfect for bringing some sunshine into your working day. We've kept things simple everywhere else, teaming the skirt with a tight-fitting black top and patent two-strap sandals.
Lace skirt, Warehouse, £50, Black diamonte top, Peacocks, £8, Patent shoes, Faith, £50
