We forecasted Harlequin as a Trend Alert back in September and now with all the shops starting to stock some delightful circus goodies, we thought it was high time we showed you how to work the harlequin look.
Now your key inspiration for this trend should be the character of Harlequin, from the traditional Italian Commedia dell'Arte theatre genre. He was mostly known for his brightly coloured costumes and mischievous personality.
Diamond patterns, brightly-coloured designs and prints are now what has been adapted from this classic look, as it's given a modern twist for the 21st century.

The key to making this dress not too outlandish, is to keep accessories minimal and the same with your hair and make-up. If you are going on a night out however, feel free to take the colour to the max with a brightly coloured bag or jewel coloured eyes- we're especially loving bright pink at the moment!
