Luella AWO8

New Folk is back, so it's time to dig out those furry gilets you stored away back in 2004. The new folk rules do, however, channel a more 1970s look, so expect lots of paisley, tassels and fringing detail to make a real impact on this trend.

Luella got it bang on with her AW08 collection earlier this year and now folk collections are filtering down into the high-street. We even saw style-savvy celebs embracing the furry gilet at Glastonbury this Summer, so you know this trend is going to stick around.

We've taken a key element from the Folk trend, to show you how to work it into your everyday wardrobe steadily, or if you want to work it to the max, then you can buy it all at once and pretend you're a hippy from the 1970s.

Fringed Boots

This is a nice easy way to ease yourself into this trend and fringed boots have been spotted on none other than Kate Moss, so you know you're on to a winner. We've teamed these gorgeous boots (which come in black and brown too) with a smock top and skinny jeans. Our top tip is to tuck your jeans into the boots, so that they are the focus of your outfit. The only thing left to do is braid your hair and dig out your aviators- what do you mean it's winter?!

Faux Fur Gilets

Yes, you may resemble a yeti but there's no denying that they'll keep you warm this winter. Gilets are the most popular way to work this trend, and you'll be in the celeb company of Coleen Rooney and Lisa Snowdon, who are both rocking the furry gilet look. We've teamed it here with a tan miniskirt and a long sleeved top to keep your arms snug. This is a very versatile piece to work into your wardrobe, as you can team it with luxe leggings and both flared and skinny jeans. A must-buy this Autumn.

Paisley Prints

Paisley prints are huge for Autumn/Winter and are just about everywhere. We're loving this maxi-dress from Warehouse, which combines a Summer look with an Autumn trend. This can work as a day and night outfit, so it's worth the hefty price tag. While Autumn winds down, wear the dress with the knitted shrug and when the weather starts to turn chilly, opt for a simple knitted top underneath, some opaque tights and some knee-length leather boots.

No look is complete without the right accessories, be it a handbag, hairclip or bangle. We've come up with some trendy pieces that will add the finishing touch to your look.
