Folklore is all over the catwalk at the minute and we're predicting that pretty coloured embroidery and cute girly dresses are going to take the high street by storm before Summer is out.
Think pixies, witches and woodland fairies if you want to get the folk look right. It's all about simple plain country girl cuts jazzed up with pretty patterns.
Luella had a definite folky vibe for her autumn/winter 08 collection at London Fashion Week with plenty of red and green embroidery, delicate floral fabrics and gingham checks.
And just this week Roberto Cavalli hit the Milan catwalk with his pretty patterned ribbon laid horizontally across simple black dresses- a much more romantic feel than his usual rock and roll style.
Natural looking furs (or faux furs) are also good for the folky look- in fact if it looks like it can be found in a forest then it's pretty much in next season.
Pixie hats (as seen at Luella) are going to be a must-have accessory for those chilly autumn evenings. Simple bobble/ ski hat with a high point is the only way to keep your head warm next season.
