The Fashion Scouts' One to Watch show is always a delight and in my eyes from last seasons stunning designers, particularly Charlotte Simpson's collection, they had a lot to live up to.
Once again there was a variety of designers, each with a completely different design.
This season saw the introduction of Patrick Li, Yeashin and Yulia Kondranina.
The Selection Panel this season included Hilary Alexander, Jessica Bumpus of vogue.com, Hannah Emslie of Selfridges, VFS alumni Georgia Hardinge, stylist Rebekah Roy, Vauxhall Fashion Scout Founder and Director Martyn Roberts and VFS Talent Scout Charlotte Gunstone.
The beauty look for each of the models, which walked in the three shows, was simple contoured make-up, a low, deep-sided ponytail with a twisted detail on the back. This allowed the focus to remain on what we were all there to see, the designs.
First up was Yeashin, the South Korean designer's collection is inspired by the 1960s and traditional Korean outfits.
A fun collection with plenty of colour, Russian influences and distinct features which will immediately identify who the pieces are by.
Fur accents, structured collars and vintage-style buttons adorned the tunics.
Next was Chinese born, London-based, Patrick Li.
His look is all about modern elegance. Pieces that can be worn forever and will work to suit many different styles. Muted glitter accents were on the tailored pieces, and suede and leather were used to contrast against each other.
After gaining experience under both Hussein Chalayan and Victor and Rolf, Patrick has developed a signature crisp, fresh style that I personally can't wait to see more of.
Finally, Yulia Kondranina, Central Saint Martin’s graduate. This was most definitely the darkest collection of them all, with heavy black fabric, contrasted with white tassels on some designs.
As the models moved down the runway we got to see the full movement of the tassel designs, the woven, sculptural garments tell a dark story with flashes of romanticism through the use of colour and the intimate cut-out designs and low cut features.
A standout piece has to be the black woven suit, with deep v and intricate cut out on the back of the jacket. Beautiful from the front, even better from the back.
With previous Ones to Watch winners like Eudon Choi, Kirsty Ward, Phoebe English and Charlotte Simpson, I look forward to watching them progress in their designs and collections, like those before them.
