Tiffany London is Creative Director at Tiffany Rose, the maternity occasion wear specialists. She tells us about her latest collection and inspirations.
Tell us about your latest fashion collection?
Our latest collection consists of stylish day wear, evening cocktail dresses, full length red carpet gowns and elegant bridal wear.
This season we offer a mix of vivid jewel tones, colour blocking and textured blends as well as some more dreamy palettes incorporating tonal lace, fairytale silhouettes and vintage inspired fabrics.
The Collection is a blend of unique textures, subtle sheen, feminine styles and sumptuous shades.
Where did your inspiration come from?
Our inspiration comes from many places, from following the catwalks, watching our favourite movie classics with Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly, endless sketching and draping, discovering a unique and special fabric, falling in love with a gorgeous colour and talking to our customers. Our inspiration ‘antennae’ are on constant alert, not wishing to miss an opportunity to create something new and wonderful.
What are your most important factors when designing for pregnant ladies?
The most important criteria for us is creating flattering silhouettes that are easy to wear. During pregnancy your rib cage is expanding, your bump is growing and so is your bust. It’s paramount that the cut and make of the garment accommodates these changes but at the same time offers a fantastic fit, so that you look and feel your best at every stage of pregnancy.
Are there any particular materials you find are most flattering when pregnant?
We love to work with fabrics that offer a little stretch and give so that our customers don’t feel restricted in any way. Since we specialise in occasion wear, we love finer, slinkier fabrics that can be gathered and draped for flattering detail and also create a little sheen for dressiness. We also love two tone lace which is elegant, extremely flattering and forgiving which means you can wear something beautifully fitted around your curves to look and feel your best.
What tips do you have for pregnant ladies?
When choosing a dress for a special occasion, don’t upâsize just because you’re pregnant and certainly don’t compromise on your style! Don’t be afraid of figure-âhugging styles either as these can be incredibly flattering when made well with the right fabrics.
Keep in mind that if you’re buying a dress in advance of your occasion, your bust will probably grow (as well as your bump), so make sure the dress offers room for growth to avoid any last minute panics.
Do you find it difficult to transfer the latest fashion trends for maternity clothing?
Whilst we find inspiration from the catwalk - whether it’s silhouettes, embellishments or the latest season shades - our primary goal is to offer supremely flattering styles. So we have great fun weaving subtle elements of the latest fashion trends into our classic, timeless silhouettes that work perfectly for maternity.
