There was something a bit magical and whimsical about Diane Von Furstenberg's collection for next Summer.
Floral garlands and hair embellishments, along with the return of the side plaits played a huge part in expressing her vision for Spring/Summer 09, with a strong mother earth vibe coming through.
So expect the high-street to be littered with floral hairpieces and coloured extensions come early spring.
Clashing tribal prints featured heavily, along with the return of dip dye combined with floaty chiffon pieces. This gave the show a real edge and sense of wearability and the models looked stunning.
DVF's varied collection also had short, floaty dresses in an almost neutral palette, but used splashes of colour to emphasise the gorgeous pieces on display.
In particular, a white embellished shift dress looked fabulous combined with orange sandals and a canary yellow floppy hat. We foresee coloured hats adorning everywhere next summer, especially as a cool cover up on the beach.
DVF echoed Rock and Republic with their choice of short shifts, but varied their collection by including coloured maxi dresses and mid-length dresses in a range of black, white and hot pink.
And although we've seen dark romance dominating the trends this winter, summer next year will revisit where it all began, with lace dresses still very much in fashion.
It will be toned down dramatically though, with neutral and cream tones taking over the heavy blacks and greys we have been seeing on the high-street.
Finally, if one trend is set to shake things up next season, it has to be DVF's satin cropped trousers seen in brown, hot pink and blue.
Roll on the Summer...
