After studying Alexa closely for a few weeks now we can't help but question her place in the Brit fashion pack. See 'Exhibit A' below....
This is Alexa at a New York premiere earlier this week. Now, we know she's popular for her quirky vintage style, but she really is starting to tread a thin line between chairty shop chic and chairty shop volunteer!
The buttoned up blouse and greasy hair really doesn't do it for us Alexa. She may have a cool indie boyfriend and the support of fashion legend Karl Lagerfeld but the rest of us think Alexa needs to think about having a wash before she hits the red carpet in future.
Under-rated: Carboot Sales
Thanks to Mary Portas, our charity shops are now on the ball when it comes to pricing. The days of hoping a confused old lady has put a Chloe handbag on sale for 50p are gone but we've found a new source of bargain vintage- carboot sales!
A carboot is typically full of worthless crap that people are desperate to get rid of but if you are prepared for a good rumage you can find some fab clothes. Most carboot shoppers are looking for cheap antiques or old records so you will usually find the clothes rails are pretty undiscovered.
Eighties fashion is huge at the minute but those who wore it first time around are still trying to get rid of it...look out for shoulder padded jackets, tour tshirts and graphic prints. Remember, a carbooter never wants to take their stuff home so don't be afraid to haggle with them and get the best price.
