Would you ditch your make-up bag for a clear plastic bag?

Would you ditch your make-up bag for a clear plastic bag?

Since 9/11 it's pretty safe to say that airport security has never been tighter; forcing mothers to drink their own baby's milk, removing all liquids from your hand luggage and of course putting your cosmetics in a clear plastic bag.

In fact, it's also a fair estimation that airport security can really ruin the sunshine mood, especially when you're forced to ditch your beloved foundation because it's over 50mls.

Well, something else which is sure to fire you up is that airports now plan to charge for those plastic bags.

We can imagine how well that will go down, especially if you're in a rush and forget about the restrictions, you have no choice but to fork out for an airport approved plastic bag.

Manchester Airport has already installed vending machines in its airports, selling two plastic bags for £1 in a three month trial. Similar fees have also been introduced in Luton, Newcastle and Bristol as well.

Considering a plastic bag costs under 2p from supermarkets, are the airports just trying to cash in, or are they simply trying get people to think ahead and avoid using so many bags?

Apparently some people get greedy when offered the plastic bags and take a few handfuls- why exactly we're not sure, but it's hardly going to be on the forefront of your mind when your off for two weeks in the sun now is it?

Something else which bothers us a tad is that the security bags are hardly a fashion statement either, especially if you've splashed out on a brand new make-up bag for your holiday and are then forced to abandon it.

And they're not particularly environmentally friendly either, so perhaps this is an issue which needs looking at more closely.

Maybe we should just spill our cosmetics on the counter so they can see we have nothing to hide, and then pack our stuff away in our much more fashionable make-up bag?

Those who have been away before will know the procedure by now, but those who have not, well let's just say it's probably safer to pack your make-up in your case.

Good luck trying to freshen up after a long haul flight though...
