The winter months have us reaching for our knitwear to keep warm and why not try something really luxurious like cashmere.
Cashmere is four times warmer than wool so it is perfect for the cold January days.
The luxury fabric is cheaper than you might expect too. You can pick up this Rocha.John Rocha cashmere cardigan for just £18 at Debenhams.
Uniqlo also has a great selection of Cashmere pieces. This sweater is just £19.99 and comes in yellow, blue, pink or green.
Even designer pieces in the fabric are getting cheaper too. You can pick up a coat by Sara & Aimee Berman for £79.99 in Urban Outfitters.
Cashmere has a bit of a reputation for bobbling or loosing shape quickly but there are steps you can take to stop this. Michael Hall, designer from MH Cashmere says: "Well cared for cashmere should last a long time and it does get better with age.
"Cashmere is a special material and people need to understand the nature of the fabric, for example the bobbling effect that occurs is a natural by-product of the material, which many don't realise. So don't despair, just get to know how to get the best out of your garment."
To make the most out of your cashmere don't wear pieces more than three times before washing it otherwise it will start to lose its shape. Never wear two days in a row.
Contrary to myth, cashmere can be washed at a low temperature, no more than 30 degrees. It's best washed with a gentle fabric cleaner which has no harsh ingredients. It should be laid flat to dry.
Pills and fuzz are a natural feature of cashmere and they will decrease over time. In the meantime, pick off these little bobbles, but be careful not to pull too hard. Invest in a fuzz comb if in doubt and brush quickly and lightly, holding the fabric taught.
So invest in some cashmere now to warm you up through winter, just remember to take care of it so that it is fit to see next winter too!
