It seems we're not the only ones who appreciate some pretty underwear, men are getting in on the act too but this time they're buying for themselves!
The Daily Mail reports that male underwear brand Jockey has seen sales of pink pants soar as men try to cheer themselves up in the midst of the financial crisis!
Jockey say sales of coloured Y-fronts have risen by an average 60% over the last six months and baby pink pants in particular have risen by 62%.
Baby blue, pistachio green and orange shades of the pants are also proving popular!
Jockey says that this sales pattern is similar to the effect seen in America during the great depression of 1935. Sales of boxer shorts with an image of the world on shot up then as
Ruth Stevens, brand manager at Jockey Underwear told the Mail: "When the economy’s gloomy, shoppers tend to make small, often unconscious, decisions in their consumer habits. Men may feel out of control during the recession so they make small choices which may lighten their mood and one of these is evidently choosing brighter underwear."
So ladies it's not just us who shop and treat ourselves to pretty things as a pick me up! Our fellas are in on the act too!
