First Harems, then Pegs and now Chinos. Just when we thought it was safe to wear our old trustworthy jeans another denim alternative is thrown into the spotlight. The trousers that are a firm favourite with bankers on their days off are back and are set to be a huge trend as summer kicks in. On the catwalk Lacoste caught onto the look and focused on masculine style by teaming a pair of chinos with a fitted blazer.
But for those of us that are not feeling that brave you can still add a touch of the trend to your outfit without making a big fashion faux pas.
Take inspiration from Kylie Minogue who was recently spotted wearing them rolled up with peep toe heels or Selma Blair who opted for a white washed pair again rolled up with a pair of gladiators. One thing that is great about them though, is that they fill will a hole in our summer wardrobes, providing an alternative to jeans and trousers. When jeans are too scruffy and a pair of black skinny trousers are too formal, chinos will prove to be your saviour.
Fashionistas who are already wearing harems and pegs have already clocked onto the trend and have added them to their list. To get the look right flash a bit of ankle and wear them rolled up with loafers or gladiators and for a smarter look a pair of heels also look great with them. When it comes to choosing what to wear on your top half team a pair of chinos with a causal T-shirt or tank top.
If you want to add touch of colour to your outfit, swap the classic Chino shade of sand for a brightly coloured pair. Ralph Lauren Spring/Summer collection features the trend in a variety of colours such as pink and yellow. Most importantly remember the key to this look is to keep it relaxed.
