We've had three days of sun in a row now so we think it is officially time to get excited about summer and start stepping out in our new season clothes starting with the ultimate piece of summer clothing, the maxi dress.
The maxi dress is a celeb favourite in LA with the likes of Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton and Lauren Conrad wearing it almost like a year round uniform. It's not just Sunny California's residents working the look though we've even spotted our own Coleen Rooney in a maxi just last week!

This trend is all about been girly so go for feminine colours like pinks, reds and yellows, it is summer after all now!
Florals are the traditional print of choice for maxi dresses but with the tribal print still going strong ethnic patterns look just as good and butterflies, which were seen on the catwalks of Diane Von Furstenberg, Marc Jacobs and even Barbie, make a great summer alternative.
If you're worried about acres of fabric drowning you though add a waist cincher over the dress to define your shape.
