Ashish AW09

Forget your slogan tops and pretty floral patterns, the only print to be seen in is a loud and brash pop art print, thanks to Jeremy Scott, Ashish and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.

At Jeremy Scott's Paris Fashion Week show, as well as his Mickey Mouse prints he also used telephone prints and turned dresses into calculators with oversized keypads. Jean-Charles de Castelbajac's designs included Muppet character faces, dollar bills and horses with complete with 3D mane.

Fashion's new darling, Beth Ditto was straight off the mark with this trend appearing at several shows in big bold prints including an ice-cream and hot dog print dress, footprint dress and a telephone print bag straight from the Jeremy Scott catwalk.

In London, Ashish kicked off the look with flag prints and zebra heads adorning items and a sequined tuxedo printed onto one dress.

The brighter the colours the better too. Bold yellows and pinks contrasted against a black backdrop look great.

This look is a step up from the ditzy hearts and star prints we've seen in the past and bigger, playful prints are the ones to wear now. Think Andy Warhol's Campbell's soup picture and you're on the right track.
