There is one trend that you can rest assured will come round every spring and that's horizontal stripes. Seen on the catwalks at Michael Kors, Chloe and D&G the stripes are back for another turn around the block.
Now that we have officially spotted three celebrities, Cameron Diaz, Fearne Cotton and Alexa Chung, working the look then we know it's time to get our stripes out.
Red, white and blue have always been the primary shades used for this trend, touching on spring's love for all things nautical but the stars have been mixing it up a bit by mixing in Black and grey too.
This is the perfect recession trend because, as it comes around year after year, we're all bound to have a stripy beauty already hanging in our wardrobes, stopping us having to splash the cash to remain stylish! That's a relief because our purses are looking pretty empty at the moment.
We know that horizontal stripes may not be the most flattering for curvier girls but you don't need to go for an all over pattern. If your hips are the problem area, where stripes on your top half and a block colour on your bottom. If you don't like your boobs or tummy then vice versa, stripy skirt and block colour top.
If you're on the skinny side and lacking curves then this style is great for you as stripes can add more shape to a figure.
So now that spring is just around the corner embrace you're inner sailor and get stripy!
