Marc Jacobs is a fan of skirts on men
We've been hoping that this trend would never catch on but with Yohji Yamamoto, Yves Saint Laurent and Alexander McQueen all featuring mens skirts in their shows the trend may be the next big thing.
Yohji Yamamoto used skirts featuring leopards almost jumping through the skirt. At Yves Saint Laurent and Alexander McQueen the pieces were tailored to create with a clear cut silhouette.
As well as the pieces parading up and down catwalks it seems designers themselves are partial to the look. Marc Jacobs, who else, has been flashing his legs wearing a skirt at the Defiance premiere in New York two weeks ago and more recently to the Louis Vuitton show in Paris on Thursday.
The world might not be ready for this trend just yet though. Neiman Marcus's fashion director admitted they didn't buy any men's skirts to stock for spring, citing that it would be an especially hard sell in the middle of a recession.
We're hoping that this is a look strictly for the catwalks, we just don't think we can handle regular men on the street flashing their legs while they strut their stuff in skirts. Surely that is our forte!
And after all David Beckham has tried and failed in the past and if Becks can't pull off a look who can?!
