They are a strange mix between gladiator heels, the shoe-boot and something a Madame in a brothel would wear!
This trend began with Yves Saint Laurent and their catwalk in October. Designer, Stefano Pilati accessorised his S/S 09 collection with a new take on the shoe-boot which caged models feet behind woven leather and metal.
These are definitely going to be huge this Spring, but they do look hard to wear. So, we'll probably see the likes of fashion-forward twins Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen and Nicole Ritchie sporting these before we are.
These shoes are so over the top that if you are going to wear them keep the rest of your outfit simple. Let the footwear make the statement this Spring.
Look for lattice-weaves and an intricate trellis of mesh to achieve this footwear trend, which is sure to be on every good fanshionista's wish list this 2009.
