Tis the Season to be Pretty...

A new survey has revealed a staggering 32% of British ladies' best friend over the festive season is their makeup bag, beating wintercoats, staggeringly friends and even UNDERWEAR as their must have Christmas essential.

Up and down the country these stunning, lonely, not to mention chilly women want to look their best for socialising, and it would seem that the extra effort is not going unnoticed as 11% of men have admitted to leading ladies on with their liking for the girl-next-door look.

With social networking sites sat poised to shame any bare faced antics, men and women are taking their time to thoroughly groom themselves for their festive frolics

Makeup artist to the stars, Armand Beasley commented for a site: "While it is obvious that we are all keen to look our very best at Christmas time, it is important that we resist the temptation to pile on more make-up than is necessary.

As well as bringing a downfall of snow, this time of year sees the average person attending 16 Christmas parties and 80 hours more socialising than usual, hence women wanting to look their best, whatever the cost.

With social networking sites sat poised to shame any bare faced antics, men and women are taking their time to thoroughly groom themselves for their festive frolics and half of women polled admitted to wearing even more makeup than usual during the Christmas season. 37% of women were desperate to guarantee good Christmas photos they applied their makeup liberally and in addition 32% glam up to impress family, friends and colleagues.

"Increased alcohol consumption, colder weather and lack of sleep already takes its toll on our skin at this time of year so women should take extra care to look after their skin," Amanda added.

The statistics show northern girls are the worst offenders as 83% of North East polled admitted that they see the festive season as an excuse to big up their Christmas makeup regime, 10% more than the national average.

Despite most men telling their other halves they like the fresh faced look, only 54% claim to prefer the look. 23% even said that they noticed some girls they wouldn't have normally paid attention to when girls wear the right makeup.

Suprisingly 11% of men polled admitted to even using a cheeky touchup in a bid to drop that washed up look and look well rested. Only 5% admitted to letting go with the use of a little holiday glitter.

So a little advent advice...girls, sometimes less is more, and more should be sparingly applied...and boys, au naturale is sometimes just the way it is, so compliment hard and it will not be forgotten, oh and...hands off our concealer!
