Christian Louboutin Decollete Leather Heels

Our favourite thing of all - shoes! Square toes, pointed toes, croc skin, buckles, and studs are just some of the things you might surprise this season

Stilettos are back, not that they really went away but once again they populate the runways sounding the death call to the chunky-heeled styles that attempted to oust the old favourite. Though the platform stiletto still pays homage to the 'chunky' combining a hidden platform in the front part of the shoe, with a skyscraper stiletto heel at the back.Stilettos are sleek, elegant, stylish and sexy. The higher they reach, the hotter they are, but be warned they don't offer much support for your feet, but since when has 'not good for you' had anything to do with look!

Many designers have used stilettos on the catwalk, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, and DSquared2 to name a few.

Platforms and thick heels have dominated the past three seasons; and a number of the major design houses have tried to hold back the stiletto for another season. If you have recently invested thick heels and platforms then you can still stay on trend for another season at least. The definite advantage of shoes with a thick heel is that they're better to walk in; so make the most of them, their days are numbered.

Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Marni and Chanel have all featured the platforms in their shows.

Not sure? Undecided? How about a compromise, the 'Tapered' heels that start thick at the top and taper down to a stiletto point at the bottom. They keep the grace, elegance and sex appeal of the stiletto yet are easier on the feet but none the less they remain a compromise.

Burberry have pioneered this style.

Deciding on a toe shape is a whole other decision to make. Square toes have been out of favour for a while now but look to be making a return, though not as inelegant drastically chopped squared examples some may recall. Rather a tapered in toe with a short blunt finish. A modern alternative to the round-toe; for those of you not yet ready to embrace a sharp point

Take inspiration from Calvin Klein, Christian Dior, Prada and Vivienne Westwood.

It is only recently that razor-sharp pointy toe was derigur, yet here it is resurfacing again. With stilettos back in the pointed toe was always going to be but a stride away.

Roberto Cavalli, Christian Louboutin and Alessandro Dell'Aqua are going back to points.

This season's colours and materials are two-tone and reptilian. Alligator, crocodile, lizard, snake are the materials to adorn your feet. Suede also makes a return while buckles laces and studs add interest.
