Wet look leggings look great just make sure your bum is covered

We all know the basic fashion rules such as, cleavage or legs, don't flaunt both. Or red and green should never be seen but as fashion evolves and new trends develop we think it's about time these fashion rules got updated.

Cover you're leggings. Wet look leggings are having a bit of a fashion moment. We love them and they can give you an instant edgy look but unless you've got the waif like figure of Keira Knightly or Paris Hilton then ladies please remember to team them with a top long enough that it covers your bum. PVC is not the most flattering material out there.

Even Kate Moss makes sure her bum is covered in wet look leggings

Keep sequins simple. With the party season just around the corner, it seems you can't move on the catwalk for sequins. We're all for a bit of sparkle but some ladies should remember that less is more when it comes to teaming this trend with jewellery. Sequins add enough bling to the outfit without you needing to pile on the necklaces and earrings too. A simple ring will suffice.

Underwear is not outerwear! We don't know who is responsible for starting this rumour but please don't listen to it. Those who think that wearing a little basque under a jacket counts as a top are wrong, it doesn't. Unless you want to look like a member of a burlesque troop or are posing as Jodie Marsh's twin please throw a top on over your lingerie before you step out of the house.

Keep lace to a minimum. Lace on you're shoes is fine, a lace dress is great, hell we're even partial to lace tights. But ladies please one at a time! You may think you're working the Glam Goth look by covering every inch of you're body in lace but trust us it's more Granny Goth.

Sheer looked great at Betty Jackson's show but in reality needs something underneath

Cover up under sheer tops. You might think you're working the rock chic look, flashing your nipples under a sheer shirt but unless you're parading down the catwalk it's a big no no. It doesn't work for Kate Moss and it isn't going to work for you. It's a move that can turn an outfit from seriously on trend to seriously trashy.

These rules, weren't made to be broken! Stick to them to ensure you're looking fabulous at all times.
