As we near the end of 2008, FemaleFirst has taken a look back at some of the fashion highlights of the year. From feminine ruffles to goth making a come-back, 2008 has been a huge year in fashion.
Models, trends and celebrities have all made a big impact on the fashion scene, which has made fashion fans everywhere hit the high street hard. If this year is anything to go by, 2009 is set to be an even better year for fashion and the trends we love to follow. Here is the fourth instalment of our A to Z of fashion:
P is for Platform Heels:
Platform heels are the perfect solution to adding that extra bit of height we all long for. Prada were one of the first fashion houses to have their models go down the catwalk in the now fashionable platform heels. These shoes are surprisingly comfortable and ooze a clever mix of sex and sophistication. These are one of most popular trends of 2008, and a must-have for any shoe or fashion fan alike.
Q is for Queen Chic:
Pearls, checks and tweed were all big hits this year. The heritage trend was popping up all over the place from the high street to the red carpet. Stella McCartney was a big fan this trend and showcased a lot of tweed-style prints in her S/S collection. Still achieving this look is simple, add some pearls to any outfit or a tweed scarf to look bang on trend this winter.
R is for Ruffles:
One of 2008s biggest trends has been the ruffle. It has been popular since fashion house, Larvin showcased it in their S/S show and as usual the high street wasn't slow to pick it up. Skirts, dresses and shirts have had to most ruffle treatment this year. It's an ultra feminine touch to any outfit and worn under a tailed jacket is a fantastic way to mix of two great trends of 2008.
S is for Sequins:
Fashion went a bit glam in 2008, with more sparkles from sequins. Bags, skirts and even leggings received the sequin treatment in 2008. Never to turn down a touch of sparkle; musical superstars Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce Knowles have been spotted wearing sequins a lot this year. With the festive party season coming up, sequins are still a great way to look in trend.
T is for Tuxedo Jackets:
Kate Moss was queen of the tuxedo jacket trend this year. The sharp tailoring of the jacket looks great against a feminine dress, and this was seen a lot of both the catwalk and the red carpet. This trend is still very popular and is a great staple item to keep in the wardrobe.
