Balmain SS09

Balmain SS09

Since today is Saint Patrick's Day we thought it was fitting to celebrate the Irish and bring you the best of all things green on the high street this week. With label's like Twenty8Twelve and Balmain all going green in their catwalk shows, there's never been a better time to embrace the colour!

Here in the Female First office we're wearing our leprechaun hats and shamrock deely-boppers but you can touch into the celebrations without been too tacky, just follow our instructions for some Emerald Isle style fashion.

If you just want a casual take on this colour then what about Topshop's green and black checked shirt, £28. Checked shirts are still big news and with a celeb fan base like Lindsay Lohan and Lily Allen, they're set to be for a while. Make sure you pick yours up in green though!

To streamline your figure team the top with skinny jeans, we love this black pair from Miss Selfridge, £25. They'll be the hardest working item in your wardrobe we promise you!

Finally add a pair of green pumps to really get into the spirit of it, this ASOS pair, £17.75 are perfect as the bow detail on the toe could pass for a Shamrock!

If you're not a jeans girl try this green and purple floral patterned dress, £44.99 from River Island. The tulip skirt shape is bang on trend and the added belt nips in your waist.

Clashing prints are big news at the moment so get your fix by adding some snakeskin heels to the dress. We love the multi strap detail on this Topshop pair, £65 and the neutral colour means it will work with the busy pattern on the dress.

Finally toughen up the look a bit with this hot studded bag, £38 from Warehouse. If Kate Moss doesn't already have one we're sure she'll be snapping it up soon!

If it's a green evening look you're going for check out this leopard print dress, £50 from Lipsy. Animal print in non-traditional colours was a big spring/summer look on the runways including DKNY so this dress is perfect for the season.

Add brown and beige accessories, like these ASOS heels, £65 and ASOS bag, £24.50, to pick up the gold detail in the dress.

Irish eyes will certainly be smiling when they see you in these hot looks tonight!
