Keira Knightley Rocks Some Pirate Fashion
Arr my hearties! pirate fashion is big news for spring summer 09, with celebrities such as Nicky Hilton, Rihanna and Sarah Harding all rocking the skull and bones look at the moment.
Now we don't mean they're wearing eye patches or using a peg leg as a form of fashion accessory or anything, we mean they've taken skull prints and turned them into dresses, tops, skirts and accessories.
Skull prints can also be given a funky girlie twist too, with summer dresses decorated with miniature skulls, or faded T-shirts teamed with a skull print bandana.
Alexander McQueen's skull scarves have become almost synonomous with his label, with celebrities all lining up to wear his brightly coloured scarves.
The easiest way to work this style is to throw on a long skull T-shirt over leggings and accessorise with some grungy jewellery. Givenchy's crucifix chains from their AW08 collection will go great with this look, complete with some knuckle duster rings.
Don't be afraid to glam up your look either with this trend, as it doesn't need to be all grunge and punk- some spring florals teamed with some skull accessories is a great way to update your wardrobe.
Feel free to look at Captain Jack Sparrow and his fashion sense for inspiration with this trend, but the masses of eyeliner, dreadlocks and the demented walk aren't really an essential.
Or analyse Keira Knightley's take on pirate fashion when she becomes one of the in Dead Man's Chest and At Worlds End. All of a sudden big frocks were replaced by leather pants, pirate boots and oversized shirts, which oddly enough will also be in fashion this season.
We loved Fearne Cotton's 'Love my Bones' T-shirt she rocked last year, kick starting the skull and crossbones trend before it had really caught on anywhere else.
So if you want to follow Fearne and the rest of the fashion elite in this trend, here's some skull inspired pieces straight for the high-street...
