Back to the 70s with flares

Back to the 70s with flares

For quite some time now women everywhere have had to endure the skinny jeans trend. But feel free to breathe a sign of relief as the 70's flare makes a comeback.

Once only deemed for Mark Bolan and your mum, this new silhouette within denim is turning out to be quite popular. It makes a nice change from the other two staple cuts of jeans - the bootcut and the skinny.

It appears that this retro-throwback is firmly back on the fashion agenda for spring, with many designers seen to be championing the flare in their S/S 09 collections.

Denim design house, dVb by Victoria Beckham and fashion house D&G, have previewed the flare with a modern twist. Whereas celebrities such as Hilary Duff, Nicole Richie and Beyonce Knowles have all been spotted state-side wearing this must have jean cut.

So, before the trend hits why not invest in a pair of these jeans to look right in trend this Spring.

Topshop: The new way jean, £90.00. (left) New Look: Shimmy jeans, £20.00 (right)

Dorothy Perkins: Indigo super flare jeans, £25.00 (right) Miss Sefridge: Light kick flare, £35.00 (left)

We particularly like the pair by Dorothy Perkins. The colour and the cut looks like they would suit every shape and make it look great.

Flares create a fanatic silhouette in comparison to the straight up and down shape of the skinny fit trend.

Wear any of these jeans with a white tank top tucked in and a wide fitted belt for a casual day look. For night time throw on some heels and a crisp white shirt for an glamorous evening look. Teamed with a bold red lip and wooden chunky bangles, you'll look great.
