Does Russell Brand Have Specs Appeal Anymore?

Shame-faced or heartbroken celebs often seek comfort in their designer sunnies, as a way to shield them from the world during a difficult time.

Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross have been papped in their sunglasses all week, despite it being freezing outside. Clearly it's a sign that they're battling some form of controversy in their lives. Oh yes, Russell has quit the BBC and Jonathan has been suspended- point proven.

Victoria Beckham, who is often a fan of wearing sunnies whatever the weather, went into sunglasses overdrive in 2004 when rumours were rife that her hubby, David had cheated with his former PA Rebecca Loos.

And Poor Cheryl Cole was similarly so distressed that she couldn't show her peepers for days, after accusations surfaced of her husband Ashley supposedly cheating on her earlier this year.

Over the other side of the pond, Britney was very rarely papped out of her sunglasses during her meltdown over the past few years- marking her frequent court appearances with some huge designer specs.

Nicole Richie and Kate Moss are guilty of it too. When Nicole was battling her weight issues a few years ago, she was often pictured with huge oval specs to hide her tiny frame. And Kate Moss weathered her cocaine scandal back in 2005 from behind many a pair of designer frames.

It makes sense really, how many of us reach for our sunnies when we have a hangover from hell? Yes exactly, so perhaps celebs are using the same tactic as us, except their problems are aired on a national level. No wonder they reach for the supersized specs in times of woe!
