Jessica Alba in D&G

Jessica Alba in D&G

When Dolce & Gabbana unveiled their SS09 fashion collection to the world, we were a little transfixed with what looked like expensive Pyjama's strutting down the catwalk.

Surely it must be a fluke, or maybe a quirky twist to their collection, but how wrong we were, as Louis Vuitton and Marni followed suit with their interpretation of luxurious PJ's.

Are we really expected to believe that PJ's are suddenly fashionable and what's more can be worn outside of the house to social events?!

Well, if celebrities are leading the way of the future then we should probably be worried, as Jessica Alba has already sported the D&G PJ's to a premiere last week and got a right pasting too.

Mainly courtesy of us, granted, but those Pyjama's just swamped her frame making her look frumpy, and the normally gorgeous and fashionable Jess ended up on our Worst Dressed List.

In all fairness to D&G, their Pyjama fashion was dressed with the utmost elegance, but it really was something only a model could get away with.

As for us ordinary folk, it's something we'd have to seriously work at to even look a little bit normal, and not like we couldn't be bothered making an effort to get dressed.

Despite this, we have a sneaky suspicion that PJ's are about to make a very big fashion wave in 2009, so it may be time to embrace this scary trend and ditch your fleecy beauties for some elegant silk ones.

The high-street may try and sell the PJ's as separates, as a full suit may look a little dated and scary to wear and if that's the case, then by summer, silky PJ pants may well be one of the hot items on your wish list.

Humm... watch this space, PJ lovers!
