The peplum waist made a comeback last year, it was seen everywhere and on everyone, so it's no surprise really that it came out listed as the most wanted item in 2012.

According to new site statistics from MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk the peplum dress tops the charts of the most-frequently searched-for item on the site over the past 12 months.

It even managed to beat off the competition from the snuggly onesie.

According to the search statistics the top 10 most wanted fashion items of 2012, based on the items that accumulated the most searches, were as follows:

Furthermore, the site also revealed the trends that have accumulated the highest number of searches in 2013 so far, with January’s most-wanted items being as follows:

1) Chunky knitwear

2) Leather ankle boots

3) Fake fur jacket

4) Peter Pan collar blouse

5) Leather leggings
