Mickey Mouse has had his day as the new star of Paris Fashion Week is Kermit the Frog, thanks to designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.
Jean-Charles de Castelbajac is known for his unique designs, last year it was hats made from Lego and he is the man behind the sequined Barrack Obama dress that Katy Perry wore to last years MTV Europe Music Awards. For his autumn/winter 09 collection Castelbajac made Kermit the star of the show with his Muppet inspired creations.
One model was sent down the catwalk in just leggings and a coat made from dozens of Kermit teddies, their limbs hanging down to cover her arms. The outfit was accessorised with a fascinator style headband of Kermit's head.
Kermit also adorned the a scarf, a jumper and a knitted dress, alongside a speech bubble saying, 'To be or not to be!' This look was topped off with a green fur Deer stalker hat with Kermit's eyes peeking over the top.
Kermit wasn't the only Muppet to take to the catwalk though, he was joined by furry friends Animal and Fozzie Bear, who's heads created more Deerstalker style hats and animal's face also features on a sequin dress, belt and fur skirt.
Keeping up his Obama inspiration one model wore a dollar bill style shift dress with the new President's face replacing that of George Washington and at the end of the show the audience was showered with similar fake dollar bills .
Of his creations, Castelbajac told reporters backstage: "I like to take institutions and shake them up." We're not sure if it's a trend we, or any sane person, will be wearing come Autumn but we love a designer who embraces the fun side of fashion and these creations are certainly that!
