What have you been up to recently?
I'm currently in a taxi in Paris ,going to sell our new summer collection. How did London Fashion Week go?
Really really good. We got a really good reaction for the show and we got some really great press. Can you tell us about your new collection, what was the inspiration behind it?
Sure, yeah, it's based around geometry, with the letter P for PPQ, we wanted to move on from the cocktail dresses and on to a more softer lookWhat do you think will be the new trends for next season?
OK so next season is a kind of 60s 70s thing going on so I think there'll be a lot of flippy skirts and platforms going on. Then you look like you've got really long legsPeaches Geldof has modelled for you in the past, how did that come about?
She was a massive fan and had lots of the collection. The shows that we were doing at the time were quite vampy and she came in and she'd bleached all her hair blonde and she looked amazing! We also had Aggy in the show and we were like "Oh you look amazing on the catwalk together". Peaches has got a natural kind of walk by nature. You get some people who are famous and they don't walk but she's really confident.
How did you get into Fashion?
I was doing my A Levels at college in Hartford and I just looked at what I was doing in my art class and I wasn't allowed to take the pattern and make a print on fabric or anything, I just had to finish the picture and that was it and it was really boring. I wandered over to the campus next door where they did all these design technology courses and I just signed myself up for a fashion course! You're promoting the new series of One Tree Hill, do you see any similarities between you and Brooke in the show?
Yeah quite a few actually. She's come into herself at the moment, she's got the record label, the fashion and we've all had difficulties getting people to pay us. I think the way they've portrayed us is directly true of the industryWere you a fan of the show before?
On and off yeah cause I never really get to watch TV that much so DVDs have caught me up, you can stick them on when you want to.What do you think of the show moving forward 4 years?
I don't think people mind really, you couldn't do it in like Coronation Street, someone's son suddenly gets biceps or something! But in this it's good. I think the audience grows up as well really quickly and if you don't do something you loose the audience. So I'm a fan of it!Back to fashion, there's been talk of New York Fashion Week been put back a few days and threatening London Fashion Week, what do you think of this?
I think that people will just carry on having their shows because they have to. Especially with the recession and stuff, people aren't gonna be having a lot of spare cash to counteract things. I think they're probably trying to get attention back to New York and stuff. For us showing there...we've been asked to do it for free and it's not right for the brand. Our fans and audience are here and until we've got a proper understanding of stuff we wouldn't go to New York. A lot of people are quite loyal like that, there's such a tight set of people at the moment so that to suddenly move it, I think New York might miss out a little bit. Maybe not for the big players like Calvin and all the rest of it, because all the money's there for them, for their kind of corporate, posh customers but not for the street style that we do, the clubs and the music. We'll visit, we'll do presentations and things, but showing there...I think we're more likely to do a show in Paris. I'm not criticising them in any way though, maybe one more year and we'll show there. What do you think of eco-fashion, is it just a passing trend or the way forward?
I think, fabric technology is developing any way so anyone that's experimenting and looking at recycling, like anything else style is really relevant to it. We do our bit by using cotton, silk, natural fabrics. We don't make a big bee line for recycled stuff. If it's relevant to the theme then we use it but I think it's just part of the big tapestry of fashion! How do you think the credit crunch will effect the fashion industry?
Younger customers that buy our stuff, they'll not pay their rent so they can buy a dress! or eat beans for a month or not go to the pub that often if they want something . Then the older people, generally they tend to be rich anyway so it doesn't really affect them that much and were not in that price bracket where it's £10,000 for a dress. That's ludicrous so people tend to prioritise or they'll buy special pieces for a wedding or they'll just buy a T-shirt. We design accordingly, the quality of the range does speak.Do you have any advice for people getting into fashion?
Yeah, there's a lot stigma attached to it and a lot of stories that go round but I think you'll be fine if you don't hang around with wankers! Hang around with people that are relevant to what you do and don't be persuaded by people that are trying to put you off course and guide you into..there's a lot off people out there who are really not cool and will get you into trouble. What does the future hold for PPQ?
We are looking at more shops and then...we're gonna get a yacht to take us around the world!Haha!Everyone we interview we ask them to come up with a question for our next interview and Debra Stephenson wants to know what is your favourite childhood memory?
Being in South Africa with my mum and she'd take me to the department store and we'd walk around and feel all the fabrics and I'd have to guess what they are. I think that's where it all stemmed from, knowing what it is and not liking things that are crap! Can you think of a question for our next interview?
I'm gonna ask the panel, they're here with me...shall we go with the thong debate? Yeah, it's our dilemma we always ask everyone this: What do you prefer thongs or big knickers? One Tree Hill Season 5, available to buy on DVD from 6th October 2008 from Warner Home Entertainment
