Nicky Hambleton-Jones is a style guru for the average lady; she's honest, fun and makes women feel good about their shape, figure and style. We spoke to her last week about her own personal style and she gave FemaleFirst the rundown on what's hot for Autumn and Winter this year.
Military
This is big news this year, once again with military inspired coats, in particular being huge. Cropped jackets will look chic and stylish for parties, while a longer coat will see you through the cold winter months. Also, try combining trends by investing in a military look that rocks the colour of the moment, tomato red and you'll be one step ahead of the fashion pack.
Tartan
Tartan has been seen on the catwalk as early as February this year, and now it's on the high-street in bucket loads. Rock the Aggy look and buy a tartan jacket or skirt and team with coloured tights, to get the most dramatic effect.
Punk
Gothic influences and punk rock are the biggest trends this season, as grown up and glam Goth takes control. Leather or wet look leggings are without a doubt the biggest way to work this trend, and teamed with lots of lace will give you the look you're after.
Tailoring
Wide leg trousers look great and complete the whole tuxedo look, which is so big right now. Team with a crisp white shirt, and lots of beads to pay homage to the Givenchy catwalk show for AW08. Or invest in a 1940s style pencil skirt and pussy bow blouse this season, to work the subtle secretary look.
The Shoe Boot
The shoe boot was big news a few seasons ago and we forecasted it as a
trend alert
last month, as they were all set to make a triumphant return. Well, they're back with a vengeance, this time taking inspiration from the gladiatorial style sandal we saw over the summer.
