As the dust settles on London Fashion Week, FemaleFirst reflects back over this and New York Fashion Week to bring you our trend predictions for the autumn/winter season.
Cape jackets crept onto the season towards the end of last year with Fearne Cotton and Kylie Minogue been fans but this year they look set to be even bigger news as Paul Smith and Vivienne Westwood including the style in their collections.
We could all be going back to school next season as school girl chic is set to be a hot look. Vivienne Westwood's collection included stripey, blazers with badge, plaid pieces and knee high socks. Giles also used knee high socks while over in New York Tracey Reese's were thigh high.
Victoria Beckham may have once been a joke in the fashion world but she's proved them all wrong. The structured pieces she used in her first collection last season have cropped up elsewhere with Michael Kors and Donna Karan New York sending corseted dresses down the runway and Giles used structured, lampshade shape skirts.
Draped fabric on dresses is a big trend to look out for. Lots of designers including Donna Karan New York, J Mendel, Christian Siriano and Vivienne Westwood used this style to create shapes on pieces so pick up draped dresses now to get ahead of the trend.
Florals aren't just for spring anymore, Tracey Reese, Rebecca Taylor and Tibi all used the pattern in their New York shows but unlike summer's ditzy florals these are bigger prints and in warmer colours like burgundy and burnt orange.
Jodhpurs look like becoming the surprise trouser trend of the season with both Diesel Black Gold and Osman Yousefzada trying the style usually reserved for horse riding.
Winter could be about to get a burst of colour with fuchsia set to become the colour of the season, overthrowing purple. Michael Kors used it on a gorgeous strapless dress, Tommy Hilfiger in coats and tops and over in London Paul Smith also used a coat in the hot pink hue. Who said winter clothes had to be boring!
So they are the new trends but old looks could be sticking around too.
Sequins proved a autumn/winter favourite with Ashish, Twenty8Twelve and 3.1 Phillip Lim all including sparkly designs.
The one-shoulder dress looks like staying around for a while too. Michael Kors, Badgley Mischka and Matthew Wiliamson all going asymmetrical with dresses.
Who needs spring, roll on winter and the fuchsia, one shouldered, draped dresses!
