New York Fashion Week draws to a close today after another successful year. The economic climate has fuelled fears that the event would not be as good and more low key as usual with many designers dropping out of the runway schedule and instead opting for intimate presentations but with big designers such as Zac Posen, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Diane Von Furstenberg, Max Azria, Matthew Williamson and even Barbie showing their collections it was anything but low key.
The final day of Fashion Week kicks of at 9am with the Project Runway finalists show. Despite the fact that the latest series of the show hasn't yet been aired because it is tied up in a legal battle the show will still go ahead.
Ralph Lauren will show next for two hours at 275 Hudson Street. We can expect the usual sweater tied preppy look of Lauren but there will no doubt be some slinky sexy evening dresses mixed into the collection.
Following Ralph at noon is Tadashi Shoji. We can expect some beautiful occasion dresses and evening wear amongst this autumn/winter collection.
The final show of New York Fashion Week is Chado Ralph Rucci at 2 pm. Chado, the only American officially invited to show haute couture in Paris, will show his ready to wear collection in the tent.He uses prints inspired by his own watercolour and acrylic artwork, using luxurious fabrics and neutral colours.
Lets hope the final day lives up to the rest of the week.
