Celebrity favourite and lover of all things fashionably feminine, Zac Posen took to the New York stage yesterday to showcase his vision for autumn/winter 09.
His collections always draw in the crowds and also seem to capture the imagination too, he's someone whose known for being unpredictable yet stylish, and has pulled off some extraordinary fashion in his time too.
So would his new collection deliver? Well, in a word- yes. We were big fans from start to finish of his look for autumn, and it was such an elegant affair, it would be hard not to be swept up into it all!
A grand piano and a man in a very stylish tux serenaded the models as they strutted the runway, showcasing a range of very wearable yet interesting looks.
Girly ruffles and a grey/turquoise dip-dyed power suit was first to take to the catwalk, which had a very 80s feel to it. Gold accessories on the models also enforced this, and we were happy to take a trip down memory lane courtesy of Mr Posen.
A luxurious looking fur trimmed coat with exaggerated shoulder pads once again enforced the 80s feel, and the dirty green colour combined with a washed out blue ruffled shirt underneath was a nice combination too.
There was a great feeling of wealth and luxury about his collection; piled up hair and heavily made up models made it feel as though it was a power trip back in time, with woman expressing their opulence through fashion.
The gowns both short and long were exaggerated with heavily structured shoulder pads, and despite having seen this a lot on the spring catwalks last year, this was something new, dark and elegant.
Teaming big shoulders with peter pan collars and a sheer fabric worked well with the dark colour palette he had chosen.
Long leather gloves have appeared on a few catwalks this week too, and Posen's was no exception, possibly forecasting a big accessory trend for the upcoming winter months.
One of the standout pieces for us was a long beaded taupe gown, finished with puff sleeves, a draped back and striped panels. It was stunning and a very easy piece to work into some lucky celebrity's wardrobe too!
Other pieces which impressed us was his collection of one shoulder fishtail gowns, using inspiration from the Orient and experimenting more with dip dyed effects, they quite literally took our breath away.
Well Zac, you've excelled yourself for this season, but the question is now- how will you top it?
