Anna Sui AW10

Anna Sui AW10

We can always expect something a little different from Anna Sui and she did not disappoint yesterday with her fabulously quirky, cute and art inspired collection for New York Fashion Week.

Agyness Deyn, Daisy Lowe and Jourdan Dunn all strutted their stuff on the runway, proving that Sui knows how to pull off a star studded show, when the rest of NY fashion week heads southwards.

What we particularly loved was the fact that when the models hit the end of the runway they posed and, horror of horrors, flashed an enormous grin at the audience!

Light hearted and fun, Sui's show was a delight to watch as she sent down paisley prints teamed with ruffled collars and fitted jackets for the first half of her runway show.

The delightfully OTT cloche hats, customised with feathers and added set pieces gave the show an almost Russian feel to it, which was explored further later with the addition of fur coats and brightly coloured paisley prints.

Signature sheer floral designs were also a triumph on the runway, teamed with black leather boots and ripped tights gave it a nice edgy appeal to something which could have been quite dull.

We were particular fans of her fur lined booties, which just poked out over the top of the model's knees- so much so in fact, we can see them being a winter staple over black jeans in the upcoming months.

Turquoise once again was a big influence in the collection, possibly forecasting an early trend for autumn, as the colour has shown up in four other collections so far this week.

We loved her purple and pink striped tights teamed with cowboy boots, not to mention her plaid and floral dress she showed near the end of the show; it had a touch of Luella about it, in our opinion.

The highlight for us though came in the form of a red military cardigan, with black sequined detail, teamed with a ditzy floral dress and red and white checked tights; it should have been a disaster but we loved it!

All-in-all, this was a gorgeously bright and colourful show, which is the first to really capture the imagination for autumn/winter this year. Roll on SS10, we say!
