J. Mendel stuck to it's heritage with lots of fur pieces along with draped fabric and intricate detail.
Designer Gilles Mendel used thick black bands around the waists on most dresses creating a perfect silhouette. Fabric cascaded down the front to create art like detail.
Dresses were full length, with either one shoulder or black detailed shoulders, one particularly pretty piece had black ribbon gathered in an almost gift-wrapped style on each shoulder. The same detail was used on the waist of some dresses.
Draped fabric helped create shape on the dresses and sheer fabric draped over skirts gave a floaty, red carpet look.
There were beaded details on dresses and some intricate designs on back of dresses with a swirling beaded pattern over sheer fabric.
Colours included the obligatory black but violet shades and burnt orange provided some colour relief.
We love the decadent dresses but could really do without all the fur.
